After a 4-year struggle through colon cancer, Chadwick Boseman, the legendary “Black Panther” star, has died at age 43.

Boseman died at his home in the Los Angeles area with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Associated Press.

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago, his family said in a statement.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said in the statement. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

Chadwick Boseman was an American actor widely recognized for his representations of real-life famous figures including Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in getting on Up and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, and for his appearance of the superhero Black Panther in Marvel universe movies Captain America, He died at age 43 on 28 August 2020, during a four-year struggle through colon cancer.

Chadwick relatives put out a statement saying, “We confirm the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman with immeasurable sadness. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and has been dealing with it for the past four years as it advanced to stage IV.” And that “He died with his wife and family beside him in his house”.

Chadwick had recently evoked concern among his followers because he appeared quite thin in social media videos. This concern almost overwhelmed the heartfelt words about Jackie Robinson and the pandemic that he wanted to share with the world.

Chadwick was born on (29 November 1976) in South Carolina and has always had a theater fascination, and performed his first high school play. He joined the popular HBCU, Howard University, and gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He began his writing and directing career but he was obviously intended to be on the other side of the camera.

In 2013 he held the power by storm in Jackie Robinson’s role in “42.” Chadwick said on playing that part, “The story is important because we’re all standing on his shoulders. He started something-maybe he didn’t even start it, it started before him. Although quite short, the influence that he had on Hollywood was incredible. He hosted ‘SNL’ in a very unforgettable episode and was scheduled to be published in ‘Black Panther 2’ in 2022.
